Safety rules for Machine Safety

Machines power the industrial world, but safety powers everything else. Productivity thrives up on robust machines, but if proper safety precautions are not followed, things can take a dangerous turn. There are certain safety precautions that are to be taken into consideration while dealing with machinery and in this blog we will delve into those key factors.

1. Proper installation of the safeguards

When it comes to the operation and maintenance of machines, there are certain rules and regulations to be followed. Installation of safeguards is one among them, which includes barriers, guards, and the like.
Quality safeguards should be installed to prevent the workers from coming into contact with the moving parts of the machine

2. Ensure that the workers are equipped with the appropriate PPE
As far the workers are concerned Personal Protective Equipment aren't an option, but rather a necessity. This includes helmets, googles, boots, dresses with high sleeves and the like protects the workers from injury.

While it may feel uncomfortable to wear all of them together, it effectively prevents many potential hazards.
3. Check for any malfunctions of the machines and report them immediately
As far as machines are concerned, malfunctions are a given. Machinic wear and tear is unavoidable. And that is the reason why regular maintenance routines should be followed.

Let it be anything, over heating, unwanted noises or unexpected vibrations, none of these should be ignored. If any such malfunctions are cited, the technicians should be informed about this. Seeking professional help and clearing out the malfunctions are necessary for machine longevity and smooth functioning.
4. Proper lubrication of the machine parts
The moving parts of the machine are to be lubricated to ensure smooth, friction-free and quiet operation of the machines.

Some machines can be lubricated with the machines without removing the safety guards, whereas that may not be the case for some. In the cases where safeguards have to be removed for lubrication, ensure that the machines are turned off and locked out and then proceed to remove the locks.
5. Avoid the use of electronic devices
The use of electronic devices such as cell phones, headphones and the like while working with machines should be strictly prohibited. The usage of these devices can cause distractions which may lead to risk of accidents.
6. Proper Training of the operators
The workers who operate the machines should be well versed regarding all of its functioning, the safety protocols, awareness of potential hazards, emergency shut-off and the like.
7. Monitor the machine until its full shutdown

The operators should remain and monitor the machine until its complete shutdown.
Because even after switching off the machine, the moving parts may take time to come
to a complete halt. Therefore it is advised not to leave it unattended.

Remember, safety measures are non-negotiable. Therefore the proper implementation of the safety rules are necessary to maintain a safe and productive working space.
